We went to Florence and waited for the DJ to drop the needle
though I almost lost my head waiting for that shit to start
and after 10 minutes he put on a sad song
said it's too lavish for the kids at heart
so sip ya champagne and reminisce about the times
you wish you could change but thankfully
Boboli Gardens is where I left my heart
so let's search for it
where I left my heart
let's water the flowers in expensive suits
and get our hands dirty
run across the primary axis
while tracking mud in our dress shoes
life only grows in the soil of insecurity
like a diamond straight from the mines
put directly on ya ring finger
we went from friends to lovers
outdoor museums to hangin from
roman sculptures
I let go and fell from heaven
because I know you care
that's why we don't care
and lastnight
got me dreadin our last night
we made in Florence
we made in Florence
what we made in Florence
Boboli gardens
where I left my heart
so let's search for it

smiles....def search for it...i like the wild abandon of running the axis...without care that our good shoes are getting muddy... life only grows in the soil of insecurity, like a diamond straight from the mines, is my fav line...it bears the weight of truth...you had rather a wild time in boboli gardens...ha
haha...that is way cool...and def. search for that heart... i love the rap style and energy of this anthony...what a cool bunch of poets we are...
I would say that Boboli Gardens would be a beautiful place to leave one's heart....and then to return again to search for it!
You are a perfect example, brother, of how we poets roll; wherever we find ourselves, we can't escape ourselves--& that is the sweet irony & wonder of such an event; makes me want to ravage the Lotto, & make this zany shit happen for real.
My favorite bit:
"life only grows in the soil of insecurity
like a diamond straight from the mines"
There is that feel of openness in your words which I really like. Well-penned. :-)

OH how i love everything Boboli associated..particularly of times before..in Renaissance true art of human being..and your words here take me to that desire to simply be a FREE HUMAN BEING!2..SMILES..and have a great Ball of life!
I think the lines about the soil of insecurity is everyone's favorite. Maybe because you struck the cord of truth. We're all a little insecure. Because you're a student of human nature, you're a wonderful poet. I sure enjoyed this.
I like the dress shoes in the mud. Live! Enjoy life! And do find your heart again. :)
The line that struck me most: life only grows in the soil of insecurity.
Your very distinct voice emerges clearly and powerfully in this, Anthony. Now let's go and look for that heart...although I suspect it's right there in your poetic words.
Cool tune Tony, lots of cool images, I like the refrains, tracking mud in our dress shoes. Life is a party.
Sure, why not ~ I love the entire read Anthony, it sizzles ~

"I let go and fell from heaven"
See what happens when you let go your heart? The night is long, so be careful, you hear? And if you have as little restraint as this poem promises, we'll pick you up, dry and dust you off, and help you find that heart in the morning.
Awesome! writing my friend.
You are a pure soul for this world and you inspire us all to grow and create.
Beautifully my friend. :)
loved how this came back around... and watering the flowers in expensive suits brought about a reality to what's important
Gotta love a love song. Really loved these line: we went from friends to lovers
outdoor museums to hangin from
roman sculptures
The whole journey. It sings itself to me when I read it.
Oh, such bittersweet meet. May as well search while it's still light. ANd since we're her anyway.
Great lines! Love it, Anthony.
I'm game if you are - I bet it's in the maze - beating on its own. Who, who who who you gonna give it to - while the stars shine, the arias play, and the boats circle the pond. We can see the Arno and the Duomo from the top of the hill - I'll race you!
I LOVE this, Anthony! It was a Trip!
oh my, what a delicious rhythm this has... and such intense emotion, really powerful.
" let's water the flowers in expensive suits
and get our hands dirty "
yes, let's!
life only grows in the soil of insecurity . . . simply love that line
I thoroughly enjoyed hearing you read this. I'm up for searching...even if it's through mud, though I believe I may have lost my shoes in the mud...
This is so sad - all the pub regulars are joyful and excited but you are searching for your lost heart. I hope you find it.
This poem is actually about having a rebellious and amazing time in boboli gardens with a special person; *searching for my heart* is a way of saying I don't want to leave that wonderful place.
I love the energy of the poem cupping the great truth of life's being a multifaceted gem...
I agree that when we have a wonderful time somewhere with very special people, or that very special person, and then look back on it, it feels like we left our heart there. Well-expressed, Anthony!
such a moving expression of friendship / relationship - 'I let go and fell from heaven because I know you care' beautiful poem for the party and the anniversary - K
search it anthony....beautiful poetry..:)
you always can say it like no other, Anthony!
Great rhythm and feeling in this--nicely done!
Wow, definitely some great rhythm and imagery going on in this. So many lines I like, these my favorite:
'let's water the flowers in expensive suits
and get our hands dirty
run across the primary axis
while tracking mud in our dress shoes
life only grows in the soil of insecurity'
Liked this a lot!
Well, I say you always have to find those pieces of yourself
to help make yourself whole..really nice flow it just rolled off my
tongue as I read..
I don't mind watering the plants in my ball gown but I'm not treking through mud...From now on my ball experience is going to be mud free:)
This does sound like a dance - and what's interesting is that it put me in mind of a minuet... with rap elements.
Great location Anthony, great night of fun and verse.
You have made Florence rather a rap center. Very fun. Thanks. k.
You gotta get your hands dirty. Good luck finding that heart of yours. And, thanks for the visit. Cheers Anthony.
