The flower:
A rebel, a beautiful rose with thorns
That impale like a bull's horns
Yet a guardian angel sent from heaven
In the form of a Mother
As he laid in bed
A sweet blessing given with wings
That span from head to toe
Inescapable high to inescapable low
A heart so tender it shan't ever show
The innocence of a cradle
Could never compare to the sweet embrace
Of your heartbeat against my ear
For in that moment, there is nothing I fear
But God's hand equals sheer love
Matched by your gift
Your spirit
Your beauty, Mommy

your heartbeat against my ear...yeah that is mother...a guardian angel with thorns, smiles...your mom must have known mine...nah the switches never had thorns but sure stung like one when i deserved it...ha. nice poem anthony and i am excited for you to host tomorrow at one stop.
The words you choose and how you arrange them is powerful. They require the reader to examine them intently. Anthony, your Kung Fu is strong -:)). Every poem you write speaks to me. I feel like you can take your poetry to another level. You got big league potential. Another powerful poem poet.
Mom didn't have horns, but she sure had a voice on her for a small woman and her hand on my backside carried some weight to it, whenever I misbehaved...yes...even I was naughty when I was younger!
Nicely imaged Anthony.
Thanks for hosting One Stop today.
aw...your mama done good, anthony ;)
A creative and vivid expression of the tender heart and iron fist of mother, very touching piece ~ Rose.
A wonderfully vivid expression of love... the dear sweet moments spent cradled by mother.
I admire the strength, in description to gave to mothers in this poem
You've drawn a wonderful picture of a mother - and it sounds inspired by your own. Good poem, Anthony.
your heartbeat against my ear...reminds me even of the unborn baby when nothing else we need to hear is her heartbeat...beautiful anthony and thanks for hosting today
Simply beautiful!
Such a beautiful poem, so touching...so loving. No one can take the place of our mother...
let it be forever
Anthony - like a sweet whisper and other times the necessary "call to arms" ( or dinner)
Thanks so much for hosting - wont be the last
Love from the Moon
Love the jumble of symbols in both the poem and the photo header illustration, and the wisdom. Well done.
