(Omicron by Cheryl Kellar)
Where I stand
The ocean of purple, blue, & pale
pink
Cathedral lights wash over lush
mountain sides
Bright enough to illuminate the pane
Below snell's window
Baby coo’s and little footsteps
Fill the atmosphere with innocence
And purity like a mother's womb
The bursting of heart-shaped
capillaries
Caused a movement
Of psychedelic blocked receptors
The sound of music rang
The constant wave of notes
Made our words so easy to speak
The strumming of memories made
The road as smooth as the path
Of somnambulism

as smooth as the sleepwalkers path....i hope never to sleepwalk...
having a kid in the house def adds an element of joy....just to have them chittering around...nice fluidity of thought...and heres to hoping more of our dreams become reality
i used to sleepwalk a lot when i was a kid and woke standing on a cupboard... ugh... luckily never on the rooftop...love the atmosphere..the waves of notes... the life that streams through the veins.. cool verse anthony
Sleepwalking was so scary.. a short period as a kid I did.. and I still recall waking up in total darkness in my grandnmother's wardrobe... I managed to get back without anyone noticing (she snored terribly, probably what woke me up)...But I guess before waking up I was among the pink oceans, or flying spaceships with sheep... but a nice calm reality with children's feet.. definitely calming...
Nice use of the Art prompt; my youngest daughter sleepwalked; caught her one night crawling into the refrigerator thinking it was the bathroom; like the tangents & emotions this painting cajoled out of you.
Sleepwalking can be scary--loved the words you paired with this piece of art--
Sleepwalking is scary..love the piece.
Sleepwalking - thankfully I have never experienced this, although I think my sister might have done it once or twice.... I love how we come up with such a wide range of responses to these pieces of art! Great work, Anthony.
Inspired piece and thanks for introducing me to the work for sleepwalking . . . I learn something new everyday. :)
Nice ..sleep walking through colors of innocence and longing. Works well, sir!
That is some spell or fantasy land Anthony ~ I have no experience of sleepwalking but my son did ~ There is a slight irony of the experience when you said ~
The bursting of heart-shaped capillaries
Caused a movement
Of psychedelic blocked receptors
Thanks for participating Anthony & wishing you Happy Week ~
I used to sleep walk as a kid and now I just spend my nights
in the dream realm walking from here to there..I could see
the colors of the ocean flashing in my mind..
One thing that especially struck me was the allusions to the mother's womb and capillaries. I can see how the painting suggests that--it works!
Your poem gave me a vivid memory of giving birth to my son. It was dreamy and psychedelic and everything happened so slowly but was over in an instant. So I am feeling a little mushy about your poem right now.
Brilliant with horror overtones. Migraine inducing colours translated into words. Awesome.
Cool fantasy explains painting...and vice versa! I felt the "purity like a mother's womb, the bursting of heart-shaped capillaries"
loved the babys coo and the warmth of the domestic scene - beautiful - K
I had to go look up somnambulism (it was what I thought it would be), but I was about to say this all sounds like what the world appears like when you turn around and take it all in with your eyes closed. Brilliantly described!
I love this comment.
Cool...heat shaped psychedelic capillaries!! Just kidding...I see how you derived the "innocence" from the painting....I wonder since the oceans are pale pink and blue or purple...it could mean you have a girl or boy in the house ;)
The painting does feel psychedelic, as do your words describing it. sleepwalking is a scary notion, but I'm grateful for whatever part it played in inspiring your work.
