For such a short write, the power of this piece is immense! God-like ;) Very heavy handed write that has caused this reader to ponder. Thank Zeus for dVerse!
To me this speaks of a permanence, survival through the ages, even after the believers have gone. I don't see that as bleak. And there is certainly nothing bleak about these wonderful photographs you use. But, then, you already know how much I like them.
This is very good and yes Zeus speaks of survival through out the ages and how strong one must be to do this. Well done http://gatelesspassage.com/2011/09/27/addiction-to-solitaire/#comment-1201
Very evocative of that helpless immobility that often strikes when one is overwhelmed by circumstance and strong emotion--also need to mention I love the costume work in your headers--just amazing stuff and mean to say so every time I visit.
Wow - deity concentrated in form.. what I love is the fact that you haven't mentioned "statue" - and yet, have made a perfect visual of it with your words. ~Aida
I just came over from Anna Montgomery's piece on Athena, and I find it very striking how this is also titled/centered around a myth but has a very different feel. In four little lines you manage to convey so much... so much of power and of hardness. A very strong write. Can you tell us more about the picture above it?
Wow! My first visit to your site, Anthony : ) Amazing!
You say a lot in so few words in this and have used the prompt beautifully. The last line really ties it up, but the entire piece is wonderful. Great photo : ))
A gorgeous piece of poetry my friend. A gem. Short and concise--I love it. Especially how each line flows into the other. This one is an amazing write in my mind, Anthony. Your talent is all up in this piece.

feeling a bit bleek this week anthony, intriguing imagery...have we tied gods hands and made them little more than a symbol?
and love the outfits in the header this week...
Agree with Brian - bleak words and they are hard times.I'm sensing it's one of those changing times for everyone. You said it well here, my friend.
Sharp and clear sighted, wonderful imagery. I wrote about Athena :).
heavy hands....deep, painful...brilliant imagery
.. a barren land.. and hands unworking.. sombre stuff. Fine write, Anthony.

I definitely feel this one, Anthony. "My fingers; dipped in wet cement They harden" - I know this too well. Thanks for sharing with us.
great write love the picture too ....thank you x
sewn to a barren land....you manage to paint a landscape of pain and doubts with a few words anthony
"Totem poles sewn to a barren land" grim and sad images here...
and i like that header picture ~
You capture bleakness with rich imagery... Cool!
Awesomely bleak imagery. You are able to express so very much with so few words.
What a fantastic image!
bleak but true, and in truth, there is always beauty.
I don't know about bleak. I see a statue made by people to a god that does or doesn't exist in hopes of turning their barren land fertile.
For better or worse, that's what I call Faith.
Cool, tight image, AD.

So intriguing. I find the use of sewn so unexpected. Wonderful photo too.

Oh, wow, so much deep imagery in such few lines. I love this!
in the heaviness of your words, I see a wisp of hope..
magnificent words and picture
I get more of a "The gods have fled" vibe, the loneliness of the empty sky, the lack of Powers in a diminishing day. Fine write. - Brendan
Symbols of power with none?
